We got the train down yesterday. Direct from Didcot to Paignton made it easy. We collected regatta paperwork and goodies from RDYC, before heading out to find ‘Ivy Green’ where we left her on Deep Water Pontoon 1. ‘East Breeze’ was moored on the other side of the pontoon. The Dart was filling up with classic boats, so we moved back a space to raft alongside ‘Wind Weaver’. Then ashore for welcome reception and briefing, followed by supper on board ‘East Breeze’.

This morning ‘East Breeze’ has moved across the river, so we motor over to pick Marion up for the Parade of Sail. 80 odd yachts mill about in the Dart, before following the paddle steamer ‘Kingswear Castle’ down the river. Then it’s out into Start Bay, where we all drift gently South on the tide for a couple of hours, before racing is abandoned for the day.

The day rounds off with a feast in the Old Market Square, complete with music and shanty singers.
