7 June 2019 – Holy Loch to Loch Goil

Start position
Holy Loch Marina
Finish position
It’s a sunny morning, confirming our decision to come up early this weekend.
We motor into a light head wind out of Holy Loch, hoisting the mainsail as we go. Turning North round Strone Point we drift slowly towards Loch Long. We’re unable to contact QHM on VHF. We soon start the engine and motor North, passing HMS Forth on exercise. Then it’s into Loch Goil and past Carrick Castle. Half way up the loch, we finally get a breeze and it’s a gentle run the rest of the way, past the submarine exercise area.
We pick up a visitors mooring, dig out the dinghy and head ashore to meet Oliver and Aline, on their way to Crinan by car.
Then back aboard for supper and a very calm night.
