The wind is still in the East. Our start has been brought forward 30 minutes to avoid a repeat of yesterday. A short loop up to Ryde Middle and back. We go via Bramble Bank to make best use of the tide. We tack earlier than most of the fleet and make up some ground, but it turns out to be too early. Others definitely go too far. ‘Spinaway X’ reveals a large colourful cruising chute and races away from us. Ours isn’t rigged due to our reduced crew.
We’re back in early in time for the prize giving, but it hasn’t been our week. We need more wind to compete with the lightweight boats.
We’re surrounded in the marina by a fleet of charter boats. We should have moved while we could.
Brian hosts us at ‘Number 3’ for a convivial evening, preceded by drinks with Kim in Osborne Court. It’s a select group and good to get to know Andrew and Angela from Spinaway better.
