26 March 2019 – Collecting sails from Cowes

Start position
The Elephant Boatyard
Finish position
The Elephant Boatyard
We motor across the Solent in calm conditions, arriving at Cowes Yacht Haven just before 11:00. David getting used to handling the boat, as we squeeze in past the dredger.
The Ratsey team turn up with the sails, which have now been serviced. Also with the unfinished spray hood to make adjustments for fittings.
We bend the sails on, have lunch. Then it’s a gentle sail back across the Solent, slowed by the beginning of the ebb tide. The SW wind fades away after Calshot, soon to be replaced by a Northerly. We start the engine to make sure we beat the ebb tide back up the Hamble. Then we’re all packed away, to leave ‘Ivy Green’ back on the outside pontoon. She’s lost her usual berth to ‘Allegro’.
