After a little to-ing and fro-ing over the weather later in the week, we decide to head for Plymouth to pick up David and Jules. L goes ashore to provision from yesterday’s recommendations – The Quay Bakery & Kittows Butcher & Deli.

We hoist the main on the mooring and cast off as ‘Mat Ali’ appears from the pontoon further up river. We’re downwind together in the Westerly wind. We’ve stuck with the no.1 jib and don’t hoist the topsail. ‘Mat Ali’ gradually pulls away from us. This is our best passage sail so far, as we gybe downwind, before rounding Rame Head and into Plymouth. ‘Mat Ali’ continues towards the river Yealm.

Sutton Lock is open for free-flow, so we’re straight in and allocated a long pontoon berth. As we tie up, Jules and David emerge from a taxi for perfect timing. Once everything is tidied up we head ashore for supper at ‘The Village Restaurant’.

Fuel tank pressure checked at 14” on gauge.
