Another early start, with light Northerly winds at Fowey. The wind picks up as forecast and it’s downwind to Dodman Point, then a sunny, flat, broad reach to Falmouth. This is why people enjoy sailing. We touch 7.5kts with only slight help from the tide, but we’re not keeping up with ‘Mat Ali’, suspicion is growing about our boat speed. Is the bottom dirtier than thought?
It’s a good force 5 as we beat up past St. Anthony Head with full main. Then into Falmouth Yacht Haven to raft up as the fleet arrives. We’ve had a much more enjoyable passage down here than last year.
A quiet afternoon is followed by trademark beer and pasties on the pontoon, courtesy of Falmouth Classics.
