We drive down to the boatyard in the morning, to join Christine and Hoppy’s regatta breakfast. R has to drive back to Oxford to pick up a forgotten bag of kit. Then there’s time to watch the floats enjoying themselves, followed by birthday cake and fizz on Ivy Green. Supper outside at The Ferry is accompanied by the fireworks display.

On Sunday morning it’s a quiet start, with light winds forecast. There’s no point in trying to extract Ivy Green from her mooring, so R goes out to crew on ‘Sepia’. The fleet drifts around the first mark, until a gentle breeze finally fills in and we get away and around the course. There’s considerable confusion about the results, with Sepia initially being awarded first gaffer, before other corrections move us to either 3rd or 2nd place?

In the evening there’s further sociability, first with Paul and friends on his, now operational, motor cruiser, then we join the gaffers back at The Ferry.
