It’s a damp morning, but the tides mean that we can wait until mid-afternoon. Jules and David head ashore to watch the Lions v. All Blacks. L soon follows to investigate Salcombe’s shops.
We finally cast off just before 15:00. The clouds are still low, so we don’t know what to expect. To our surprise there’s a W3, sunshine and flat waters as we turn East out of Salcombe. Perfect conditions as we speed down-tide for Dartmouth. It’s just 2hrs sailing until we have to start packing up again.
We abandon ideas of the night on the Town Pontoon and head straight for a deep water pontoon, where ‘Ivy Green’ can remain for the next 2 weeks. Once there we finally get to drink the champagne that our guests brought with them. Then it’s all ashore to the Castle Hotel for supper.
