Another calm, sunny morning in Yarmouth. We’re set for an idyllic reach back up the Solent. The wind gently turns Ivy Green off her mooring, we motor out and hoist off RSYC. The  cruising fleet we came down with yesterday are on their way back too, but they’re not going to catch us. We keep out of the way of the tail end of a racing fleet as they zigzag up the Solent. It’s a busy day on the Solent, but some are going further… We meet a car transporter unusually heading down the Western Solent for Spain and the internet subsequently reveals that ‘RRS Discovery’s’ next stop will be The Falkland Islands!

It’s a lovely morning, so we hear round to Osborne Bay and anchor for lunch. It takes 25m of chain to hold us in 6m, even in the calm conditions. That also holds the ice cream boat when it gets to us. Much appreciated, but the quality of ice cream has dropped dramatically! Then it’s a quick run back across to Hamble and home. We meet the Hamble lifeboat heading out to help a motor boat off Lepe beach.
