It’s small boats at the Folly today. We’ve brought ‘Ivy Green’s’ sweep with us, which just fits in the car when dismantled. We take it ashore, ready for sculling practice. In the end Edgar, from the east coast has a go with it in a small boat. L and R use a more sensibly sized oar with mixed results. The new OGA dinghy is on display, as is ‘Dirty Girty’ from the east coast.
After lunch it’s dinghy racing in ‘Smack’s boats’, luggers similar to scows. R makes it through the first round, before being knocked out. The whole event is great fun, but slowed by one tiller repeatedly breaking and having to be sawn down for a new fitting. Then there’s ‘log racing’, with the Ducth contingent taking centre stage.
We finish the day with supper at the Folly Inn with the crews from ‘Lone Wolf’, ‘Susan J’ and ‘Minx’.
